The Human Capital function of an Oil & Gas group which employed over 45,000 people recognised the need to use data to support decision-making, and also to have a hawk-eye overview of all their Human Resource processes to help identify improvements and efficiency gains.

 

They wanted an intuitive, graphically rich and visually stunning reporting platform aimed at the CHRO and other C-level executive audience, with the aim to:

 

  • Merge data from all the different sources, rationalise and model it to provide a strong foundation for the reporting platform.
  • Increase collaboration across the various stakeholders by displaying KPIs in a bespoke boardroom.
  • Enable strategic decision making via dashboard insights.
  • Establish a data-driven culture within the HR function, raising awareness about the importance of data completeness and quality.

Our Approach

We leveraged our experience of our client’s business and an extensive requirements gathering process to get a clear picture of their real needs, stimulate ideas and feedback by the key stakeholders, and propose relevant KPIs and reports.

 

We then created a roadmap based on parallel workstreams, divided by business area; and delivered the solution in iterative sprints which allowed for agility and timely feedback from our client.

 

After extracting and consolidating data from the client’s systems, we built a set of more than 12 highly executive and interactive dashboards for analysing processes across the entire HR lifecycle. These areas included Workforce, Talent Acquisition, Succession Plan, Scholarship, People Relations, People Development & Discipline Overview, Operational Excellence, Performance & Rewards, Compensation & Benefits, Graduate Program, Digital Transformation, and Systems Data Governance & Compliance.

 

Due to the size and scope of the solution, our team took care to roll out the solution in staggered releases instead of a single “Big Bang”, controlling and managing the user feedback and easing adoption of the dashboards within the organisation.

Customer Success

13 dashboards are currently live in the solution, and are displayed in an 8×3 meter screen at the client’s headquarters.

 

The dashboards are actively used by the client’s Human Capital Management (HCM) team to take relevant actions and support their business decisions as well as share any insight with the other functions and the Group CEO.

 

With our solution, the customer can establish a realistic Succession Plan for key positions at group level and in each group company, ensure that career plans are on track for new joiners and established employees, optimise turnaround times for recruitment, perform what-if analysis to fine-tune costs, and much more – all based on real time data and actionable insights derived from it.

 

Outside of the HR function, our solution is perceived as a blueprint for executive dashboarding and an example of how it should be done.

 

New releases and developments are planned to continue expanding the insight within the client’s human capital processes, including predictive analytics and ML/AI use cases such as Flight Risk Prediction.
